News and this and that

I've started a new drawing it's of a picture I took after the flood. It sounds kind of weird but I saw a tennis shoe in a sewer with water rushing over it and for some reason found it interesting. I'll be posting pictures once it gets a little farther along. I'll be doing that in between a private commission I'm doing of a home, it's almost finished. The house is beautiful and turning out nicely.

I'm on vacation from my other job so I'll have more time to get things done. Of course the Des Moines Arts Festival is this weekend so there's no doubt about it I'll be taking time out for that too. Ed hasn't been called back to work yet so he's still sticking with our original vacation days. We have no plans now but it still feels good to have time to do whatever. This coming Thursday, July 3rd, we have 4 birthday's. My daughter's, the twins and yours truly :) I've lost 35 pounds and still counting preparing for this event. It's swimsuit time!

Has it been 40 days yet?

Rain, rain, go away! No is hasn't rained for 40 days here but it seems like it and it's starting to cloud up again. It has been 15 years since the last flood and according to calulations it wasn't suppose to happen like that again for another 100 years. What can I say, it's 85 years early. So Ed is out of a job till who knows when since Eagle Iron Works is flooded. Guess I'll have to get my "Honey Do" list ready for him. My other job is high and dry but there's a river between me and there. Wish I had a row boat or a helicoptor, either one of those would be better than the interstate. This too shall pass, so once again "Que sera sera." It could be worse.

Today I'll be organizing my Studio, it has to be done I'm running out of room, then I'll get started on the next drawing. It's also Father's Day so Cathy and Mike are coming over for dinner. Jeepers! I'd better get busy.

Update: The water is down in most places. I now have a road!

She's all framed and I'm moving on

I'm calling her finished. Now all that's left to do is get prints for the family.

She looks real light here. She was fair skinned but the original drawing isn't this light. Anyway, I'm pleased with it now and I have it all framed and matted so I'm moving on.
