Grandma again...Twins!

I spent hours last night updating my website, keeping busy. A lot of things have been taking place this past month. The most important thing is, I'm gonna be a grandma again, to twins! Well, a grandma by proxy anyway. Since I'm known as grandma the bestest and they have no one else, I've officially declared myself grandma. There's a whole long sad story behind this, but it's going to have a happy ending, or at least the happiest ending possible. I can tell you things happen for a reason and everyone has a purpose in life. I know, that I know, that I know, without a doubt, that life has prepared me to be the grandma to these twins. My "adopted" daughter and her husband are due the end of July and will be moving here next next week. I'm thrilled to know that I'll be able to be there for the birth!

Greater possibilities

Since I don't have anything ready to show yet, I decided I'd put up this drawing that I did testing different colored pencils on black paper. I found the photograph on wetcanvas a while ago and for the life of me can't find it now so that I can tell you who posted the photograph, so if anyone knows please let me know. It puts me in mind of being open to greater possibilites and focusing on what you want out of life. You can be stuck in a hole forever or climb up to see what's out there. It could also relate to going towards the light, OR it could just be me trying to draw perspective! That's more like it.

Monarch

Ahhh yessss, guess I'm getting a touch of spring fever, I've got butterflies on my mind. The reference photo I'm using is from Wetcanvas user Queen Bee. I've always thought Monarch butterflies were fasinating so being I'm in a whimsical mood, here's the beginning of a "purdy" monarch butterfly. So far I've been using polychromo colored pencils on it, I may use prismacolor colored pencils and touches of acrylic paint for other parts of the picture. It's on Bristol smooth paper 11"x14".

Bam! Kariann!

This turned out to be a mixed media. Kariann is done in polychromo colored pencil. The background is marker and acrylics. I love the smile on her face, she looks like she knows she's sexy. I also like the fantasy aspect. I learned a lot doing this portrait, one thing I learned is I'm getting a set of acrylics. I think they will come in handy. I'm not giving up colored pencils yet though!
